About Mitch

Mitch is a creative problem solver and visionary leader who has spent more than 25 years serving in the non-profit sector. From disaster relief, museums, and child welfare – Mitch has engaged in supporting families and creating more resilient communities.

He has a passion for connecting people to solve complex problems and is always willing to roll up his sleeves and get hands-on to find a solution. Mitch recognizes the importance of public-private partnerships and during his service as an elected official used those skills to support numerous community enhancements.

Mitch believes in taking action and not simply talking about issues facing our communities. He has served on a variety of boards of directors throughout Indiana and continues to be actively engaged in Northeast Indiana following his passion for youth and family development.

Mitch serves as an Alumni Ambassador for his alma mater, Indiana Wesleyan University, where he earned his Master of Public Administration in Non-profit Leadership and a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. He has also attended the Disney Institute studying Leadership Excellence and is a Certified Gallup™ Global Strengths Coach.

Mitch as a Dad…

Mitch is a husband, dad, coach, nonprofit leader, and professional sports chauffeur for what often feels like an entire traveling athletic department. He and his wife Daniela are raising a beautifully blended family of five kids — Haylee, Gabe, Hayden, Haynes, and Nathan — along with their two dogs, Komet and Leo, who somehow manage to add even more chaos to an already full house.

Life for the Figert family is rarely quiet. Between ice hockey, track, volleyball, baseball, and karate, there’s almost always a practice, game, tournament, meet, or road trip happening somewhere. Most evenings and weekends are spent in gymnasiums, at ballfields, in ice rinks, or loading snacks into the car while trying to remember who forgot what gear this time.

As a blended family, Mitch and Daniela understand firsthand the beauty, challenges, growth, and intentionality it takes to build a healthy home and stay connected through busy seasons of life. That lived experience shapes much of Mitch’s coaching, leadership, and heart for encouraging others.

Grounded in faith and driven by a deep passion for people, Mitch believes some of the most important leadership in life happens long before the boardroom or stage — it happens around dinner tables, in car rides between practices, and in the everyday moments where families learn how to grow together.

Don’t be surprised if one or more of the kids (or dogs) occasionally make an appearance during a session. Around here, life is real, a little loud, and always people-centered.
